About Alicante
One of the Mediterranean cities with the best quality of life. Here is what makes it special.
The climate
More than 300 days of sun a year and an average temperature of 18 °C. Mild winters that invite long walks, long springs, and warm summers with constant sea breeze. Ideal for remote work from November to March, or family holidays from June to September.
The beach
Postiguet beach, the urban one, is a few minutes walk away. For quieter coves, you can reach Cabo de la Huerta, San Juan or Albufereta in less than half an hour by car. Clean waters, sandy bottom and lifeguard service in season.
Eating out
Alicante has one of the most varied gastronomies on the coast. Rice dishes (arroz a banda was born here), fresh fish from the central market, tapas in the Santa Cruz quarter, and Michelin-starred restaurants within 10 minutes walk.
Getting around
The centre is walkable. There is a tram (TRAM) to the northern coast (San Juan, El Campello, Benidorm), urban buses, and EMT bike rental. The airport is 10 km away and connects directly to most of Europe.
Key events
Bonfires of Saint John (19-24 June): the city's main festival, with artistic monuments in every district and fireworks over the sea. Moors and Christians parades in some neighbourhoods during summer. Christmas markets in December.
