From Alicante Airport to El Campello: tram, taxi or car
Alicante-Elche Airport (ALC) is about 25 km from El Campello. There are three sensible ways to make the trip, and the best one depends on your arrival time and how much luggage you carry. Here's each option with real times and prices, written by someone who lives in the area.
By tram (the cheapest option)
There's no direct tram from the airport, but it's the cheapest route. From the terminal, take the C-6 bus to central Alicante (about 40 min, €3.85). There you connect with TRAM Line 1 towards Benidorm, which has five stops in El Campello (the most central is 'El Campello'). The tram leg is another 25-30 minutes. All in, with waits, allow 1h30 and about €6-7 per person. Worth it if you travel light and aren't in a hurry.
By taxi or ride-hail (the most comfortable)
A direct taxi from the airport to El Campello takes 25-30 minutes via motorway (A-70 then N-332) and costs roughly €40-50 depending on time and traffic. There's an official taxi rank just outside arrivals. Apps like Cabify/Uber operate in Alicante at similar or slightly lower off-peak prices. It's the ideal option if you arrive at night, travel as a family or with large suitcases.
By rental car
If you plan to explore the Costa Blanca (Altea, Calpe, Guadalest, the more remote coves), renting a car at the airport itself makes sense. The drive to El Campello is easy: take the A-70 towards Valencia/El Campello and you're there in 25 minutes. The apartment has covered parking, so parking is never a problem. For long stays, weigh whether you need it every day or just a few: the tram covers daily life well.
And getting back to the airport?
Same route in reverse. If you have an early flight, book the taxi the night before (we can recommend trusted local contacts) because there's demand first thing. With the tram, note the first train leaves around 6:30; if your flight is before 9:00, a taxi is safer.
